Over the years in
international student ministry one thing we learned is that there are
many people throughout the Metroplex who love international students and
are independently serving them in many ways. We have also learned the
importance of meeting together with others of like heart and ministry
to encourage one another, learn from each other and occassionally do ministry
together.
We have found that there are others whom God has touched in the same way.
Several people from ISI, BSM, DBU, Navigators and various other Evangelical
Christian organizations met in Summer of 2005 to discuss putting together
a network of people who work with international
students in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to meet, talk and learn from each
other. We are all doing such neat things, no doubt we can learn from each
other and also share about students who are moving, share resources, help
others get started, etc. We also hoped that one result would be that there
would become a network for the Dallas Fort Worth Area where people who
are ministering to international students. There is so much experience
out there on the various campuses that is a value for all.
Thus was formed the North Texas International Student Ministry(ISM) Network.
We are hoping to have an annual event to build our relationships and learn
from each other. Please consider joining this network
if you agree with our heart and hold to the basic
tenents of Christian faith.
Some North Texas ISM network members include International
Students Incorporated(ISI), Baptist Student Ministry, Dallas Baptist University
International Office, First Chinese Baptist Church, Dallas & several
other local churches |
